going to S.O.B. (what? south of beale....what did you think I meant?)

My roommate asked me to join she and some friends at a new-ish restaurant downtown infamously called S.O.B. (which stands for south of Beale, Beale being a famous street in my hometown). so I had been on my way to garden ridge to buy storage boxes (very exciting obviously) it was a stretch but I thought that a little beverage and dessert would be alot more fun. The only problem, I was dressed a little sloppy.I had my guiness shirt on (which I was excited to wear just having purchased it from the Scottish festival (i know I know it is a Scottish festival, but I am Irish.) and I had a silly summer skirt and flip flops. This would not do. so I had to improvise quickly. I wanted to get there in about 20 minutes.

my friends were not planing to be dressy so I didnt want to seem over done so I grabbed a vintage circle neck scarf to go over my very dark green guiness shirt, and then changed into my brown skirt with some neutral knee socks, tan shoes, and my trusty red jacket that I see as a neutral color and wear it with just about anything.

A slight departure

Ok so you know how you can be so excited about something and then you can look back on it later and be like "eh..." Tis the case with these pics and outfits. But it isnt your fault that I have years of self loathing and dislike of my body to over come, but here I am. (And thats a big part of solving it isnt it?) Yesterday I decided to be creative, and for the most part I believe that I was successful. The only problem I have when I get too creative is I worry that it doesnt work in the way I think it should. however I did it and wore the outfit to work, and I will not worry about the rest.

I went on a shopping spree the day before yesterday and I was having so much fun, that I didnt realize that all the things that I bought that day would work together. It was a very exciting discovery. Again as always I would like to apologize for the poor quality of these pictures. Hopefully soon I will bone up on what type of digital camera is the best for the price and get it and you will not have to endure the blurry camera phone pics. And maybe I will look a little more professional, like all the lovely ladies whose blogs I devour just about as soon as they are posted.

I was excited by my sales, and the fact that I got ever so many complements on my red boots (who sadly were quite uncomfortable by the end of the day, but alas). But it is funny that I got those at Goodwill and every thing that I have gotten there I have gotten major complements on. so either people are lying when they say they like them, or you really dont have to spend alot on fashion.

The outfit: silver grey bag from target, red boots rampage (via Goodwill), thrifted skirt, grey tights from old navy, black tunic top from old navy, express necklace.

So I found a new shirt that I really like, and so I wore it the other day. the outfit that i put together was kind of country but I put a kind of put a gothic spin on it by pairing it with my black combat boots.

Farewell old apartment or...give me my money, bitches...

Actually, they weren't bitches, as aptly said by Meg Ryan in Sleepless in Seattle, my former landlords were: "someone we would be friends with." They couldn't help it that there was a smoker chic upstairs and a guy that made smelly beans across the hall. I have a great new roommate and there is nary a cigarette nor a smelly bean in site. So this blog is late. There is no interweb at my new place, but I am hoping to secure reasonably priced interweb for myself and my worthy roommate as soon as possible and it can be afforded. If anyone has suggestions for such, please feel free to give me suggestions.

My old apt....ah well. As I saw a few days ago, nothing brings out my cleaning ocd as much as moving. I think my landlords will be pleased. I always try to leave a place better than when I found it. Its kind of a good will thing that my parents taught me early on. You know making the world a better place and all that. It doesnt hurt that I am expecting a deposit back but for some reason it is never about the money as much as it is the thought that my landlord could show my apartment to the next prospective tenant immediately as I left it. So I went from the above photograph while I was packing to this:
The photographs are not the same corner of the room but you get the idea. I tend to do things like roll up rugs (if there had been any), washing out the fridge, and the bathtub and doing all the floors. i hope that I go them a little better that the "broom clean" that is outlined in my lease. It is a matter of pride with me I think its like a game. Like playing the game of "how clean can Jenny get her former apartment" before time runs out. And it was the 29th and i was cleaning. I think that i did a good job. I am just that OCD. Hopefully it will be worth some money, and i will win the grand prize. (Or just my deposit back would work).

I read the news today, oh boy...

working working. There is an event and of course i am working. alot has happened since last we spoke, dear reader. I have a new hair cut, a new home, an idea of when I am taking the comprehensive exam, and a new low cholesterol diet, that I stick to most of the time. Except tonight while working this wedding. It seems like when I work a 12 hour day, give or take a couple of hours I just keep eating and eating to keep myself going. argh. I am going food shopping tomorrow. I am. I need some interesting choices. argh. so I have little left to say tonight as my mind is reduced to so much mush, with the move, and working late and etc. so I will leave you with some pictures that I took on my camera phone.

The picture above is of my new boots that I bought from target. They make me very happy. They go well with my new suit. Hopefully a picture of aformentioned suit will be forth-coming.

This is my new nailpolish. I am sorry for the inferiority of the picture quality but it is a kind of black purple color from OPI called 'Give me moor!'

This is my new leather arm band bracelet that i bought from the scottish festival called Clanjamfry, that my boyfriend and I went to yesterday. Sorry that the details are hard to see. There is a nice scrolling pattern in little ovals. It is all leather, and oddly it smells of formaldehyde or something equally strong. I will be glad when it airs out. My boyfriend has a similar one that is black with a celtic knot.

Rain, Rain...dude.

So the heavens have parted and the flood gates have opened and my city is the object of a torrential downpour. This is especially disheartening, as tomorrow, my favorite day of the year may be threatened with rain. My favorite day is that of Cooper-Young festival. I have taken a day off specially as I love to go. There are booths of goods foods and music. Local artists, musicians and artisans get together to for their fares to be bought and enjoyed. Among many things I was planning to look at booths of vintage clothing, inexpensive sunglasses, books, handmade soaps, jewelry, and perhaps get a glass of "shaken" lemonade. I hope it happens. It is so much fun. It turned out. There rain held off and we had a lovely Cooper-young Festival after all. And I go a great new I (heart) cy t-shirt and bumper sticker with my favorite zip code in the world, the one to midtown.
